F'n Flies!

2008-09-27 - Saturday

Last night we were bush camping in a unused gravel pit...atleast I don't think it's been used in a while...it's hard to tell here. Since rain is so rare, any impressions made in the ground, ie. Tractor tires, just remain there until disturbed. So who knows when these tracks were last made...there is a tree or two growing in some of them so that may be a clue.

Anyway, woke up around 6am to very damp sleeping bags due to the dew this morning, mine was downright wet...also woke up to flies...thousands of them (Ok, maybe hundreds, but they felt like thousands, maybe millions!). I may have mentioned these flies already...they are by far the most annoying flies I've ever encountered anywhere. They were so bad this morning that all we could do was pack up camp and head out...no stopping for breakfast. We've decided to drive for a bit and try for breakfast later.

Today we travelled across the Queensland border...time to move our clocks forward by a 1/2 hour.

As previously mentioned, this was another long driving day ( 800km). We'll be spending the night in Conclurry and again, the only real highlight was supper.

Tonight we have red peppers, stuffed with hamburger (mince meat) and couscous, prepared by Peter and Martin... And they certainly were the highlight to a long driving day.
