Well, I had hoped to write this entry before leaving the Vancouver Airport...but the turnaround was just too quick...but technically, I think I'm still in North America...so I'm Ok.
So, I'm into this blog about two weeks now and I feel I can share a little bit more about myself with you. So, here it goes...
I love to nap.
It's true. Now many of you know this about me already; so I guess it's not so much about sharing as it is about recognizing a truth. But did you know that I especially love napping on airplanes. It doesn't matter how well I've slept the night before, how short the flight is, or how many times I've napped on earlier legs of the trip; as soon as the engines start up and the wheels start moving I can't keep my eyes open. On more than one previous trip (I'm sad to say) I've found myself appologizing to my seat mates for my lack of conversational interaction and the inevitable drool puddle that will be forming on my pillow before the end of our flight...then, within minutes, crashing out.
Well there, now you know. Hmm, maybe it's something in the air?
Ok, so I've just travelled from East coast to West coast...what have I learned?
1. This little computer of mine is proving to be more and more awesome. I was able to connect to the Halifax airport wi-fi and call my sister through that Internet connection with Skype. The quality of the call was just as good as a land line. I was very impressed. Things didn't go as well when we tried to video conference, but oh well...that simply would have been gravy. Hopefully it will work as well from Australia. If so, I should be able to make pretty cheap calls home (as long as I can find free wi-fi that is)
2. Wi-fi Internet service in Toronto's airport is not free. You have to subscribe to boingo (and it's not cheap)...so I didn't do any surfing in Toronto.
3. Getting a GPS lock while flying is not as easy as I thought it would be. Not that I'm not used to knowing where I am while flying...but it would have been cool to watch my progress in realtime.
4. Wi-fi Internet service in Vancouver's airport is free - just didn't have enough time to do anything with it.
4. Air Canada does provide pillows and blankets for red-eye flights...so my little Lug nap sac wasn't exactly a requirement...however, it is super comfortable just the same.
Ok, I'm signing out now...got movies to watch and napping to do!

You're too cute!
Ken, you didn't need to tell me you like to nap as you are asleep on the job a fair amount of time while I was there. - Rick Beaton

Now that you have been there for a few days, Lets see picture number 2.
I hope the connections are as good as you though they would be. I can understand the Northern Desert parts being a little sketchy.
Hey Ken Glad to see your progressing on your journey....
Cheers!!

Hey Kenny,
Wow!! You’re half way around the world, and now talking in ‘g’day matey mate’ language and wrestling with those crocks lol.--Remember when they start snapping, you start running lol
Seriously sweetie, have a great time and take lots and lots of pics. Can’t wait to get your next update!
Donna
Enjoy your trip - I am so jealous!!! Say HI to Milln Reef in Cairns for me - and check out the nurse shark dive off Maroubra near Bondi Beach (Sydney) - they were both great when I was there several years ago!!
